Lenten Art Exhibit - Stations of the Cross
Artist: Gerard ( Jerry) Di Falco
Viewing times: Mon - Fri
10 a.m. - 2 p.m. - Other times by appointment.
The Stations are expressed in various artistic genres, including sculpture, wall-relief, painting, printmaking, weaving, and photo/digital process. Throughout history, artists have used a variety of media such as: plaster; marble; wood; clay; oil/acrylic on canvas; etchings on paper; and; stained glass.
This exhibit includes multi-media assemblages on canvas – executed in 2007 – and represents my first venture into creating a Stations of the Cross. This series has been exhibited at The Da Vinci Art Gallery in central Philadelphia and at The Holy Family University Art Gallery in Northeast Philadelphia. The original series is offered for sale as a unit of fourteen liturgical works and was created to permanently hang in a cathedral, church, chapel, or private meditation room; copies of these originals are available on stretched canvas or paper in two-dimensional format and in larger sizes. I am currently working on my second series of the STATIONS using traditional etching techniques with oil-based printing inks (from France) on natural etching papers from France, Italy, and Germany.
